Several Reiki Practitioners have asked me for information regarding insurance. Personally, I think insurance is one big scam and we’d all be better off without it. Perhaps if it didn’t exist, people would take more responsibility for themselves, and stop seeking to blame others for their own mistakes.
By it’s very nature, Reiki can only be used for the highest good. Providing you observe the following contra-indications, and set the intent ‘for the highest good’, you can do no harm.
- Never give a diagnosis, unless you are a qualified physician.
- Never advise a client to stop prescribed medication without supervision by their doctor.
- Never send Reiki during surgery or when an anaesthetic may shortly be necessary.
- Never treat a broken bone or severed limb prior to resetting/reconstructive surgery.
- Where the recipient is fitted with a pacemaker; check the reading before and after treatment.
If, knowing all this, you still feel the need for an official piece of paper, you may like to draw-up a consent/terms & conditions document such as this: Reiki Treatment Consent Form
As a Reiki Practitioner,if you still feel the need for insurance, check out ‘mal-practice’ and ‘public liability’ policies. These cover you (respectively) for harm caused as a result of a Reiki Treatment or for accidents on your premises.
